Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower is an insult to Islam and to taste

26 Aug

Let me introduce you to the Abraj Al-Bait Towers, also known as the The Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower.

Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower

The Abraj Al-Bait Towers are like a giant middle finger to taste and elegance

This is probably the most hideous monstrosity and insult to elegance and taste in human architectural history. They scaled up London’s Big Ben to 2000 feet and made it into a seven star super posh hotel. It hangs over the Masjid al-Haram, the holiest site in islam. (and you thought the “ground zero mosque” was bad)

mordor and Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower

The Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower looks like a super villain lair

The historic Ajyad Fortress was built 1781 and had to be demolished in order to build the The Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower. I wish I was making that up. They demolished a historic cultural landmark to build this grotesque hotel.

long cat buildings height

Long cat is long. At least he is not standing over holy sites though, and is attractive.

Obscenely wealthy Saudis sit in their 5000 dollar a night super luxury air-conditioned rooms sipping on chocolate ice cream sodas as they look down on pilgrims staggering around the Kaaba in one hundred plus degree heat.

The pilgrims are dressed in simple white robes to signify poverty and equality but are watched from far above by people who call up room serves to nibbling on the world’s finest caviar and the best food from all over the world.

The pilgrims often pass out or vomit or die from the intense heat, but hey, the hajj was never meant to be easy. Rich pilgrims will get to live in the lap of utter luxury and take breaks in their bubbly jacuzzis in between fulfilling their Islamic duties which are incidentally supposed to remind them of humility before Allah and equality between all men.

This Mecca Royal Clock Hotel Tower is the complete and total opposite of the beautiful work of Santiago Calatrava for example:

Santiago Calatrava, Valencia

Santiago Calatrava makes beautiful buildings

And here is a great example of a modern Islamic building that was built with taste and elegance in mind, the Putra Mosque in Malaysia:

Putra Mosque

The Putra Mosque in Malaysia is beautiful and built in 1999

You would think the Saudis would treat the holiest place in all of Islam with a tad bit more respect and not build a gigantic monument to mens insecurity about penis size (almost literally, since it is the world’s largest erected clock). This is the christian equivalent of building the Westin Times Square (one of the ugliest hotels ever built in my opinion) right smack next to St. peters Square in Vatican City

st peters square with westin times square

How St. Peters Square in Vatican City would look with a garish Hotel like the Westin Times Square built to overpower it

P.S – Saudi Arabian religious police organization have an AWESOME name: “Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices”

“Hideous monstrosity” and “a super villain’s lair” are the best words to describe it. Looks like Moscow’s Spasskaya Tower on steroids or something from the skyline of Batman’s Gotham City.

    • Atal khan August 29, 2011 at 2:15 pm #

Asalam o Alikum (Peace be upon you)
No dear brother, science was originated for Arab land and from Muslim’s world to the west and other countries…So keep in mind we are no copying them- its what we created, our creation! You know in today’s world the west is teaching the theories and formulas of science which were brought (invented, created) by Muslim scholars, but unfortunately now a days Muslim Ummah lost their unity and that’s why we don’t even appreciate each other…

      • Keeddis July 4, 2012 at 10:01 am #

Sorry Brother….science came before Islam. Islam however, took on previous knowledge and expanded on it, in the name of Allah. Yes Islam made new discoveries and brought new theories into the scientific world, but there is no need to claim something as our own, that was universally given to mankind, to one specific religion. There were many great worldy non Islamic scholars before Islam, however most of them just never attributed their success to being a gift from Allah (swt).

        Islam invented victorian style clock-towers?

You guys are very fast to take credit for everything meanwhile you’re covering up all arabic civilzations before Islam, I think they got a word for that.

      • vlad August 6, 2013 at 12:03 am #

bullshit, prove it,you had to wait for the west to show you how to drill oil creating your wealth today, probably our biggest mistake, where was your science then?what have you created lately?a copy of westminister clock it looks like,it looks like the brits are staring down on mecca,if you are so smart, why copy the west,or hire western architects for almost every huge job in Dubai?why do you drive german cars?we learned nothing from your ummahs,i’m sorry to say.

While US was building high tower’s no one did compare them with cats and attractive things, now that some countries got them and pass them with infrastructure !!! why are you soo jealous can u explain this !!!

    • architect with taste January 6, 2012 at 6:30 pm #

its not about the US. lol why do you arabs always make comparisons with the US?
its a hidious structure and completly over powers the holy site. i mean would you pilgrims concentrating on religious duties or the time and that ugly thing? totally out of context.

      • Awesome Storm September 21, 2014 at 8:27 pm #

Well said, architect with taste! As a Muslim, I commend your comment and thank you for such a wonderful insight, which too many Muslims seem to have blinded themselves to. Instead of thinking about the significance of a pilgrimage, and its purpose in bringing oneself closer to the Creator, the so-called “pilgrims” are too busy enjoying luxuries and novelties, rather than boycotting these ugly monstrosities and everything they stand for, and preparing themselves for hardship to enhance their spiritual wellbeing. Shame on such Muslims.

Maybe because American skysrapers, especially those built in the 1920s and 1930s, are the most beautiful in history. And besides, Americans are STILL building the tallest structures in the world….American architects design most of the great and tall structures in Asia and the Middle East and everywhere else. But I dont think you understand what the writer was saying. He thinks it an outrage that a historic building was torn down to build the ugly clock tower, and that ugly, tasteles, or even nice out-sized structures should not be built to holy or historic sites.

    • ahmed sheikh December 22, 2012 at 10:33 pm #

    • Eric October 3, 2014 at 10:49 am #

Actually, over the years, many people have commented and complained about bad architecture and the destruction of historic sites in the USA. It is an ongoing debate among architects, architectural historians, preservationists, and city planners.

The effect is sadness. What poverty of spirit and simple mind it takes to destroy the physical memory of those that came before and further replace it with such an abomination. Like an enormous billboard, such a move betrays its author’s desires of grandeur, instead bringing attention to his unorganized sentiments of inferiority, lack of talent, or myriad other complexes. Which they are, is unnecessary to tell. Fools are those that would believe explanations of east-west tensions for other than distractions from the simple evidence of this deed’s arrogance. Only a man of poor-mind could have done such a thing. Shame on him for depriving the people of Mecca and greater Arabia.

Total disgrace and only goes to further show the savagness and complete vulgurness of the Saudi royals and their pumped up self depricating egos. This large penis in the middle of what Muslims consider their holiest place is an insult to Muslims first and foremost. What was once the simple tribal town of Mecca where the prophet of Muslims lived among the Qurieshi tribe has now been turned into a galore of fancy hotels and ugly malls feeding these royal asses tons of fat and money so that they can go spend it on prostitutes and alcohol. I pity the fools.

i think this show us the age of Dajjal coming. I think the monarch has been in contact with him (dajjal), that is why they don’t know how to respect their own god, I hope this monarch will not turn Islam into the same as Vatican. It will be Qiyamah.

  10. shariefm February 6, 2011 at 10:38 am #

I remember what was there before this enormous phallic building took its place.

The Ottoman fortress that was there on a hill; it was always a beautiful sight. Every time I had a chance to see it, I would wonder about the people who built it , used it, and generally what their life was like.

And even though I’d always ask my father if we could visit the historical place (despite knowing that I wouldn’t ever visit), I’d made a promise to myself that maybe one day when I grow up, I’ll get to visit. It felt wonderful to imagine the romanticism of the Ottoman era (I could be mistaken, of course).

When I’d seen that the fortress was demolished, I was so full of rage at the general impunity with which some people treated heritage sites. But reading about the ‘Royal Clock Tower of Makkah’ was a real heart breaker to me.

Why do something that’s a carbon copy of the very cultures against which you rant at and defend your people against?

Why couldn’t you at least built something that remotely represented something Islamic, and in that manner, have the architectural beauty of the Islamic empire?

Couldn’t you have AT LEAST looked at the Al Hambra palace in Granada and thought, “Hey, maybe we could build something inspired by that work of art?”

    Fuck you guys, really!!

and I normally never swear at people, but this was something.

    • AHMED_peace_Islam October 10, 2012 at 4:50 pm #

Brother what ever earnings made from the building is given to the mosque’s expenses, and some historic places were taken in wrong senses by Muslims so if it was replaced by that building it couldnt be without acceptance of AllAh ALL MIGHTY,because something in his neighbourhood,it cant be wrong, the kings recieve visions too.

Congratulations to you for making such a valuable contribution towards keeping this message board in balance.

Like many here before me I was impressed by the overall high-quality and thoughtfulness of the posts in this discussion; it’s unusual that a contentious issue like this be met with such calm and well-reasoned response. I for one found myself a bit put off by such high-level discourse.

So imagine my relief when I happened upon your overly-reductionist brain-defecate. I mean, if everyone was as intelligent as so many of the posters before you then who would wash my dogs and clean my toilets?

It’s good to know there are still guys like you out there.

This article shows the insight dirty face of non-muslims and those who get inspiration from them. You white asses dont know who to get ur shit clean off ur holes, and you start writing any thing u want without knowing anything. If the same tower would have been constructed any where else in world (EU or USA) you all would have ranked it among the most amazing and beautiful buildings of the ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY. what you say about this double standard that you use to hide ur ugly faces?
There is only one reason, no white ass has access to this place and was not built by any of fucking US/EU company. Thats why you ppl are barling like this.

    • architect with taste January 6, 2012 at 6:36 pm #

lol thats a bit rude. The structures ugly. does nothing for the holy site but overshadow it.

Its just a clock tower and i wont say anything to you guys because, you guys (non-muslim) will stay like this till the day of judgement,we Muslims dont need to show any reflection of islamic culture on that remarkable clock tower from which you all are jealous, the real thing or sign/reflection for us is the Holy Kaaba itself ,look down from that clock tower to see the world best unity ever till the day of judgment.the best religion.the best way of me any one example on your side which can even stand a chance with us cowards…ur jealous of the arabs because they have there own gifts from God, any what do u guys do go steal oil from afghanistan, iraq etc.Look at isreal, libya today even in afghanistan you guys backed up ur asses, thousand of ur soldiers died u cant mess with the Muslims we are just to strong for you guys and wait for the day when the whole world will bow towards Holy kaaba for ALLAH (All Mighty).
wait for the day when Muslims will reunite! fear the day of jugdement.Fear from ALLAH(All Mighty).I PRAY TO GOD MAY THOSE WHO HAVE GONE ASTRAY SHALL REVERT TO ISLAM,AMEEN.
BECAUSE A CHILD BORN IS THE SON OF ADAM AND EVE,THE FIRST TWO PERSON SENT ON EARTH,AND ALL OF THEIR OFF SPRINGS ARE MUSLIMS.its just that where they are born the are led into the wrong practise.
And all those who burn theirs deadones or feed their dead ones to Animals birds, they fear God because ,He had promised to raise all humans from the dead, and just think if he can create cant he re create them.?!!!!!!

You read my mind brother, they are just jealous. If it was in a western country, that would number one attraction, i have visited Makkah last week and masha’allah the clock tower looks stunning. Kudos to those architectures…

      • garagehero1 March 3, 2012 at 5:19 pm #

The clock tower was designed by the German company Premiere Composite Technologies, and the clock by the Swiss engineering firm Straintec. And the tallest building in the world, the burj khalifa, that architecture and engineering were performed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill of Chicago, with American Adrian Smith as chief architect, and American Bill Baker as chief structural engineer. So when you boys can design something as complex as this, then you can talk.

      • garagehero1 March 4, 2012 at 2:06 am #

Just kidding , globerunner. Arabs have designed many beautiful things throughout history. The Arabs saved the writings of classical Rome and greece, which facilitated the European Renaissance. Arabs gave us wonderful architecture, literature etc…I’m just questioning demolishing historic buildings to creat new ones. In my city, Los Angeles, the stupid city fathers destroyed the entire neighborhood of Bunker Hill with hundreds of historic buildings and homes to build skyscrapers that could been built without this destruction. imagine the neighborhoods of North beach or Little Italy in san Francisco wiped out, or the historic Old Boston demolished. Its the old that gives charcter to a great city. Now Los Angeles has these big gaps in the architectural continuity. But taken as a
building, the Clock Tower is very beautiful.

      • garagehero1 May 11, 2012 at 9:30 pm #

Why would we be jealous/ It was western architects, mostly American architects that are still buolding the tallest skyscarpers in Asia and the Middle East. No one can match our engineering. And yes, it would be a great attraction in the west….like Disneyland.

Subhanallah, we have lost our minds… what are we thinking, this is hideous, may allah forgive our arrogance.. to build a lofty tower over the Kaba? This is not only distasteful but completely without necessity. What happened to modesty… if things that distract us from regular prayer such as ornate masjids are recommended against, than what are we doing building a megastructure that will loom over our heads in Hajj or Umrah? I don’t know what to say… kinda lost for words.

As for your comments brother Rehan, your ignorance and intolerance is a waste of energy… focus on spreading your insights through educated and well mannered speech, the above ranting won’t get you anywhere… in all criticism there is something to be learned…. don’t agree with people, let them know, but no need for the hatred. As for no access to ‘white ass’ in mecca, I think you will find that people of all color are nations have embraced islam… so what is with the racism? The prohibition is to the ‘non muslim’, ie someone who has not embraced islam, had nothing to do with color.

    Peace and luv.

Kaaba is protected by allah and not the human being .If the construction of clock tower is wrong let allah take his should have sabr and allah is with who has sabr. So don”t create mockery of our own religion and always keep in mind that only muslims are allowed in makkah and medina but by putting such things on website you are indirectly making ways for their visit to our holy land.

This building looks nothing like ‘Big Ben’ as you call it (Big Ben is actually the bell in the tower of the Palace of Westminster). The only reseblance between the two is they are both clock towers. Architecturally speaking and aesthetically they are nothing alike. What this building actually look like is the New York New York casino and hotel in Las Vegas with an Islamic architectural twist.

Okay, i don’t know where to start talking about this.. first of all it’s not an insult to taste, the top of the tower is a sign refers to Islamic building.

what I’m really annoyed of is the place they chosen the most holy place in whole Islamic world to build at. the tower shouldn’t be built, yes it’s a mistake and a big one but nothing to do about it now

they had just to build the new Kingdom tower they are building in Jeddah now (for people who don’t know about it, it will be the tallest in the world reaches 1000m means 200m higher that Burj khalifa and costs 1.23billion dollar and it looks pretty good but because its the same developer so it’s kinda the same design)

Again it was a mistake.. and nothing wrong with that it looks like its just the place.

    • Awesome Storm September 21, 2014 at 8:42 pm #

If they built it, then they can take it down too. We can’t say “nothing can be done about it now”. It CAN and SHOULD be demolished, but the most unfortunate thing is that the Islamic Heritage that was destroyed for the construction of this ugly tower, including the House of Khadija (RA), and the Ottoman fortress columns, will never be able to be restored, just like Jannatul Baqee. Sad.

Salam to all brothers and sisters
I would like to pour scorn on this development of the devils influence in Mecca in the strongest possible terms. Muslims are oblivious to the opening this has allowed inequality of mankind. Most of the comments by the non Muslims are correct this is hideous and a resemblance to the devil. I canno find words to describe this. Muslims were supposed not to like western influences , it is now clear they have not only embraced but taken this to a new unsurpassed level. Well done Saudis for allowing the devil access to our holiest sight. It disgusts me when Muslims disparage the western world when in fact we have these values in modern Mecca. How can Muslims defend Saudis now? It’s too late to go back but great inequality is now standard and will become part of the new experience. Muslims what on earth have you done?

  32. safs_mgr November 16, 2011 at 2:53 pm #

My dear brother, don’t forget that a Muslim always pray for the best in this world and the hereafter, beside God has not made all people poor or all rich. I believe you might be eating three times a day and don’t forget there are millions out there that find it difficult to eat once a day, does it you can not eat what you have because someone hasn’t I think the answer is no. So I don’t find a fault in enjoying what God has bestowed on you as far as you assist those that have non. may the Lord guide us all ameen.

Westin hotel tower is possibly the most hideous thing i’ve ever seen.
Calatrava is okay i guess, if not a bit overly showy, I wouldn’t pare him next to Mies van der Rohe or anything though.

  35. garagehero1 March 3, 2012 at 5:21 pm #

I really dont think its that bad…but why did they have to destroy a historic building? Couldnt they have built around it? Its like Americans destroying Fort McHenry to build a hotel or something. You have to respect your past. It only adds to the glories of the present.

  36. garagehero1 March 4, 2012 at 2:14 am #

I have always like Arabic-Middle Eastern architecture. Many parts of this was brought to California by the Spanish 300 years ago. Many Americans will point to a building and say…”Oh look, its a Spanish-style house”. But what they dont realize is that many parts of what is “Spanish” architecture, is actually Arabic or Arabic inspired.

Does anybody know that almost 4 million people visit Makkah during the Hajj ( the Holy pilgrimage that happens every year ). And annually 13 million muslims visit Makkah. Where are you going to put 4 million people in a city so concentrated on being closest to the centre. The Kabah is the Kabah, No building in this world has enough significance in the eyes of Muslims to over power it. People have to pray at the Kabah five times a day, even if the clock tower was placed far away, who would go stay there if you had to walk five times a day to the Mosque. It wasn’t built to show off or over power, it was built to accomadate as many muslims as they can and make it closest and convenient for them as they can to make their pilgrimage easier. I stayed there during my visits, it doesn’t contain only 7 star hotels, it has other hotels that suffices everyones needs according to their financial level, it has grocery supermarkets, shops, book stores, places for kids to play in, and restaurants. For Goodness sakes, People should use their common sense once in a while and stop bickering.

These are the keepers of the Haram Shareef guardians of our faith..HAH.. im sorry but the writer, just goes on to show , that he’s never actually BEEN to mecca . it is not an ugly sight , no one pays attention to the clock tower ,the white cloth isnt used to symbolise POVERTY ,it is to symbolise EQUALITY , please get ur facts straight and i see nothing wrong in sitting in an air conditioned room and sipping chocolate sodas , if uv got the money for it , u can buy it. thats like saying , how dare u wear an armani suit while the poor have no clothes. u just dont make sense. the authors stupidity and small mindedness shows. People choose to do HAJJ for themselves in the Heat and InshAllah they shall be rewarded for it , i dont see how someones luxury and comfort is wrong?! also , the clock tower houses several hotels for people of all levels to stay in , and several eateries for people to eat. it was built to accomadate the massive amount of people who throng to makkah to worship while letting people stay close to the haram so that they can go to the kaaba easily and whenever they please.

Hey…whats in that big giant black box everybody circles? Do I have to be a Muslim to go there? I want to go inside and see whats in there. What if I dressed for the pilgimage, then while everybody was circling, I would sneak inside to take a picture.Or maybe even take a rock hammer and get a piece, like a souvenir. Would they arrest me and let me go or would they torture me, and then let me go?

  47. Faik June 3, 2012 at 11:16 am #

We are NOT talking about beauty here, we’re talking about SYMBOLISM (if you know what I mean). Mecca to everybody is known to be the holliest city of Islam (The Kaaba). And the Kaaba is synonymous with the city Mecca. Now you have a whole gigantic structure that overwhelm the holy mosque, I think people has a point to be disgusted by that especially when its a hotel. Why not build that in Riyadh or Jeddah or some place else.

Another point is that, every true muslim has love for the cities of Mecca & Madina. And they would like these 2 cities to be the best in every good aspect of this life, be it real estate, technology & so on. But we all know that every thing comes with a price. In other words everything has advantage and disadvantage. And like most critics, it is the disadvantage that we are all concerned about. NOT TO TALK OF THE SYMBOLISM. Allah will protect His holy cities, that’s a sure thing.

    • AHMED_peace_Islam September 23, 2012 at 6:30 pm #

and all the funds from the hotels goes into the mosque’s account not any person or individual, can the make such a big hotel or structure for charity of any church or mandir what so ever.the answer is NO!

  48. Zahid Ahmed June 21, 2012 at 3:17 am #

I am a Muslim and I address only the Author. Take this article down. You hoped to create awareness, but take a look at the comments. The only thing you’ve created is a chance for people to express ideas with zero wisdom. There is no wisdom in a blog writer blogging their minds about a subject which is far superior to any humans intellect. You feel for Makkah?…Allah is the ONLY protection the holy Khana Kaaba needs. Not an online article. Take, it, down.

    • garagehero1 June 21, 2012 at 2:17 pm #

And who are you, to demand such a thing? Hmmm? Are you the right-hand of Allah? No. Are you the will of Allah, among the living. No. You are like so many small-minded men, unwise, excitable, grouchy, jealous, and, I must repeat, very small minded, that have taken it upon themselves to speak for Allah. This is one reason perhaps that our Muslim world is so much in disarray right now, brothers killing brothers, friends killing friends, we are wandering, not in the magnificent light of Allah, but in a man-made fog created by small-minded men. You accuse others of “zero wisdom”. And where is your wisdom then, Zahid?

    • garagehero1 June 21, 2012 at 2:24 pm #

You forget, Zahid, a wise idea comes only at the end of much discussion among men. Many unwise, and even stupid commentary will preceed truly wise words. Allah and His Prophet willed it so. Even the The Prophet, the one true Prophet, was summoned by Allah into the world of the living only after a long line of minor prophets.

  49. Rory August 7, 2012 at 10:08 am #

Let me start by saying I am not a Muslim, but have many Muslim friends. And I listen to their concerns. What concerns them is in order to accomodate all those on the Hajj, certain Muslims appear to be acting in an unislamic manner whilst trying to make it look like they are good Muslims. Walking roughshod over sacred sites to Muslims without thought of the long term consequences. It is not just near the Kaaba that we see brazen profiteering and greed. Here are some of the other sites which are being destroyed without thought for the ummah:

    Under Threat, right now…

    Bayt al-Mawlid

When the Wahabis took Mecca in the 1920s they destroyed the dome on top of the house where the Prophet Mohammed was born. It was then used as a cattle market before being turned into a library after a campaign by Meccans. There are concerns that the expansion of the Grand Mosque will destroy it once more. The site has never been excavated by archaeologists.

Ottoman and Abasi columns of the Grand Mosque

Slated for demolition as part of the Grand Mosque expansion, these intricately carved columns date back to the 17th century and are the oldest surviving sections of Islam’s holiest site. Much to the chagrin of Wahabis, they are inscribed with the names of the Prophet’s companions. Ottomon Mecca is now rapidly disappearing

    Al-Masjid al-Nawabi

For many years, hardline Wahabi clerics have had their sites set on the 15th century green dome that rests above the tomb holding the Prophet, Abu Bakr and Umar in Medina. The mosque is regarded as the second holiest site in Islam. Wahabis, however, believe marked graves are idolatrous. A pamphlet published in 2007 by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, endorsed by Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, stated that “the green dome shall be demolished and the three graves flattened in the Prophet’s Masjid”.

    Jabal al-Nour

A mountain outside Mecca where Mohammed received his first Koranic revelations. The Prophet used to spend long spells in a cave called Hira. The cave is particularly popular among South Asian pilgrims who have carved steps up to its entrance and adorned the walls with graffiti. Religious hardliners are keen to dissuade pilgrims from congregating there and have mooted the idea of removing the steps and even destroying the mountain altogether.

My dear fellow,Whos creating gods here,Muslims? we dont worship any sculptures,we pray to the only one God.Although its dissapointing we have created differences, but yet i can prove it to you 1600years back in Al-Quran,its mentioned in one of the hundreds hint for judgement day Muslims could have 99 sects among them,i believe we are moving closer to it.but they will also REUNITE! TO TAKE OVER ONCE AGAIN….AND SO ON I CANT END THIS TRAIL OF TRUTHS!

your not proving anything here all you said i heard, brother there are different ways of thinking,if visiting the jabal al-nour so important why wouldnt there be any chairlift to promote it,the thing is the left it that way and instead the made steps for ppl but only who intends to go on the top can go offer some prayers and head back ,they should spend as much time possible in praying not seeign all the places,i have seen that place my brother you know the real fact about hte place even i was shocked to see it,inside that small cave on the top there is a hole in the direction of the Holy Kaaba if you see right through the hole.its more than 1600years old brother how these things are present, the saudis dont have to worry about these matters, its Allah’s home in the centre of the city he knows well what to keep or not you dont worry brother.

The destruction of the holy sites by the deviant Saudis in power,
by Ustadh Muqallid Abdul Haqq Al-Amreeki

Dear Maulana, this article I have typed based on my own feelings at seeing the structures designed in Mecca. May Allah give you the tawfiq to accomplish your goals in both this doonya and the akheera.

    Bismillah hir Rahman ir Raheem,

It was with much horror that I first viewed the giant All seeing-eye horror occult megalith constructed in the holiest and most sacred site on planet earth

“A glowing green disc hovers high in the sky at night, casting an eerie glow over a forest of minarets, cranes and concrete frames that seem to stretch endlessly into the dusty distance, like a vast field of dominoes. The disc is the largest clockface in the world – and not only does it adorn the tallest clocktower in the world, it also sits atop a building boasting the biggest floor area in the world. Visible 30km away, this is the Abraj al-Bait, which rises like Big Ben on steroids to tower 600m over the holy mosque of Mecca in the spiritual heart of the Islamic world.
This thrusting pastiche palace houses an array of luxury hotels and apartments, perched above a five-storey slab of shopping malls. Completed last year at a cost of $15bn (£9bn), it stands where an Ottoman fortress once stood. A stone citadel built in 1781 to repel bandits, the Ajyad fortress’s demolition sparked an international outcry in 2002, but this was quickly rebuffed by the Saudi Islamic affairs minister. “No one has the right to interfere in what comes under the state’s authority,” he said. “This development is in the interest of all Muslims all over the world.” The fortress wasn’t just swept away – the hill it sat on went, too.
Shooting 26 searchlights 10km into the skies, and blaring its call to prayer 7km across the valley, the Abraj al-Bait is also the world’s second tallest building. Encrusted with mosaics and inlaid with gold, it is the most visible (and audible) sign of the frenzied building boom that has taken hold of Saudi Arabia’s holy city over the last 10 years. The house of the prophet’s wife, Khadijah, was razed to make way for public lavatories; the house of his companion, Abu Bakr, is now the site of a Hilton hotel; and his grandson’s house was flattened by the King’s palace. “They are turning the holy sanctuary into a machine, a city which has no identity, no heritage, no culture and no natural environment. They’ve even taken away the mountains,” says Angawi.
Geological features have proved no match for dynamite and concrete, which are being liberally deployed to make way for the burgeoning number of visitors. Three million Muslims arrived in Mecca this week for the annual hajj pilgrimage, an event that has mutated from a simple, spartan rite of passage, in which pilgrims give up their worldly goods, into a big-bucks business worthy of Las Vegas – with the overblown architecture to match.
Along the western flank of the city are the first towers of the Jabal Omar development, a sprawling complex that will eventually accommodate 100,000 people in 26 luxury hotels (notice how the number 26 is used by the Occultists on both the lights and the buildings– comments of Ustadh Abdul Haqq)– sitting on another gargantuan plinth of 4,000 shops and 500 restaurants, along with its own six-storey prayer hall. The line of blocks, which will climb to heights of up to 200 metres and terminate in a monumental gateway building, share the clocktower’s Islamic-lite language: a cliched dressing of pointed arches and filigree grillwork plastered over generic concrete shells.
The developers have somehow transformed a type of architecture that evolved from a dense urban grain of low-rise courtyards and narrow streets into meaningless wallpaper: an endlessly repeatable pattern for the decoration of standardised slab after standardised slab. Flimsy rows of concrete arches hang above swaths of blue mirror glass, punctuated by stick-on timber trellis screens. These are modelled on traditional mashrabiya panels, those beautiful latticework openings designed as ventilating veils, but here they become meaningless applique. “If we are imitating, why can’t we imitate the best?” asks Angawi, in a tone of desperation. “Why are we imitating the worst mistakes of 60 or 70 years ago from around the world – only even bigger?”
Another development of repetitive slabs, echoing Jabal Omar’s toast-rack urbanism, is slated for the northern side of the Grand Mosque, at al-Shamiya, while a $10bn plan to provide an extra 400,000 sq metres of prayer halls there is almost complete. Standing like a gigantic triangular slice of wedding cake, this building will accommodate 1.2m more worshippers each year, but it has come at a price.”

the very house Nabi Ibraheem alayhee salam constructed with his own hands. The building work has inevitably changed the hajj experience for everyone. Aside from the increased pollution and heavy machinery, there is more segregation along economic and class lines. Surely, I am not alone in this assessment and every day around the world hundreds of poor Muslims from third world countries for the first time take gaze and tremble at the giant monuments of kufr and shirk, totally against the Sunnah of Rasulullah salalahu alayhee wasalam and his glorious Sahaba kareem. These giant buildings are indeed far for dark and sinister in scope than most laymen may realize. It may be that our vanguards in the field of ‘Amr bil maroof wa nahi anil munkar have underestimated the sheer size, money, and evil of the conspiracy that taken ahold of planet earth and placed its toxic corrupting european idols in the forms of buildings. These buildings are actually giant idols. Indeed, they appear to come alive striking terror into the hears of righteous men and women who fear Allah. Indeed, how would Rasulullah salalahuualayheewasalam handle the situation with the buildings? He would do the exact same thing he did in the Kabba and bring down each building of kufr and shirk with controlled demolition. Then, Rasulullah salalahu alayhee wasalam, under the fear and love of Allah, would call upon all of the Muslims of the world to meet in Mecca and he would address them as a people, in person; and the juma’aat would arrive at a much lovely and better architect plan for the holy precincts. It is indeed a great time of tribulation on planet earth, as much on the immediate horizon looks ominous, but Allah is using this conspiracy that has clutched the entire world and even the holy precincts of Islaam to prove that although the kuffaar plot and plan and conspire, so too is Allah planning a better plan and it will prevail at the end of the day in glory. Subahanaallah!! Allahuakbar our Lord is such a great Rabb. How many of us remember that all we have to do to make Allah our Wali is to lower our gaze towrads ghaiyr muhram women and instead fear Allah.

The destruction of the amazing sites of Allah by these mad-men with power operating over the 5,000 saudi prince is remarkable – in fact, it may be that Allah has placed within the 5,000 Saudi princes at least one hero. How anyone could equate respect of tradition, history, legacy and the fact that pure Tawheed actually demands pondering over the creation and the ayats of Allah, not destroying them. The house of Khadijah radiallahu anha – if Rasulullah salalahualayheewasalam were alive now how would he respond to these acts? It may be true that if needed, Rasulullah would allow the spot to be given to the poor – but to build toilets on the house of Khadijah and a Hilton hotel on the house of Hadhrat Abu Bakr radiallahuanhu, may Allah crush them down along with the arrogant Shaytoni Fraud Sauds. To even use one of the Names of Allah to describe this deviant sect, Al-Wahab, is not befitting to Allah Azza Wa Jal’s Grandeur and Sublime Sifaats. Indeed Rasulullah salalahu alayhee wasalam would undoubtedly destroy these giant monuments of kufr, dhulm, shirk, bida’a and on. It is unfortunate how this conspiracy snuck up on the Muslim vanguard so quickly. It indeed was a well organized long-term business plan set in effect in Germany and Brittain. When I was a young man in high school, a friend of mine named Chris Thompson gave me a book – “Fleshing out Skull and Bones, order 322”. Every year at Yale University 15 white college frat men would meet. The likes of all three Bush unconstitutional criminals were in this religious cult the rituals of which involved Prescott Bush digging up the bones of epic American Indian war legend Giranamo, may Allah save him. Such skullduggery is indicative of black magic occultism. A human skull was always placed on a table in front of the yearly photograph (including all three Bushs) and in that same photograph there was, in the same room – you guessed it – a giant grandfather clock, a small idol-god eerily similar to the massive Idol placed in the Haram Shareef! May Allah bring these evil monuments to a hasted destruction! Black magic has been unleashed, which in Islaam we know exists and is haraam and whosoever calls on Djinn only does so at the cost of his own soul. In Islaam we are NOT permitted to call on Djinn. However, that does not mean that people who do call on Djinn will not conjure some dark power from the wickid haram. This, however, is all a part of Allah’s plan to let the Haqq prevail on its own. Of course Allah can interfere but we are living in the single most interesting time in all of human history and Allah is going to see how it pans out before He steps in with His Divine Wrath and destroy the monuments of Kufr and Shirk found in the Holy Lands of Islaam.

My dear brothers in Islaam, PLEASE WAKE UP to what the Saudi Authoritarian Fascist New World Order tyranny has planned for the Haram Shareef! They are surrounding it with a horrible new reality! Now, from every single possible angle that only the best math expert could solve, there are eyes on the Kabba. Breathtaking in horror, the Musellai realizes that the new all seeing eye has thousands of cameras and angles staring fixatedly on the Kabba itself. My dear brothers and sisters in Islaam please I beg of you boycott the future plans for putting up 30 odd domino-looking monuments all around. Please look at this future plan and do everything in your power to prevent it from coming into being –

It is with a sad heart that I write this letter of mine only because I remember when once my beloved Teacher taught me that, “if you see something unlawful, change it with your hands. If you cannot do that, speak out against it, and if you cannot even do this much, feel bad about it in your heart”.

We should all make fervant dua’a that Allah brings these giant monolith idols of kufr and shirk to a hastened destruction. AMEEEN

Bro, this tower is sleek…I like the design, it reminds me of a tighter version of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai. Anybody who don’t like this tower doesn’t know nothing. It is said that one of the signs of the Last Day is that the upper-class peoples (the wealthy) will come for Hajj for a vacation.

Another sign is that the people living in the desert (Arabs) will compete in making tall buildings.

Astaghfirullah, the Saudis have really made one of the most amazing and blessed places in the world a site full of luxury and show. What has happened to our morals?

  70. EvinAR November 12, 2013 at 9:02 pm #

Why don’t people get it by now? This clock tower is a perfect example of what religion entails: wealthy, powerful men gorging on every luxury being allowed to look down at subservient, duty-bound peasants while they remind them of just how sinful they’re being by having the occasional this or that on Ramadan, and letting their women dress NORMALLY and be first-class citizens.

Only strict, strict religion would allow such immorality through the distraction of a moral system built specifically to ignore the sin of gross social inequality. Not to mention an ugly, ugly building–it’s icing on the cake for me.

Gentlemen, it’s just a building, move on with your life. If you don’t like it, then don’t waste your time posting comments that insult muslims.

Many muslims are posting here that they like the building, they find it in good taste, and don’t believe it degrades their holy site. Agree to disagree.

We need to stop all this pointless hate between the west and Islam. We need to work together to make this world a better place for everyone. Not every muslim is a terrorist, please remember that. We are different, for certain, but diversity is what makes this world great.

  109. no_respect January 5, 2016 at 5:07 pm #

Thanks, finally someone I found that agrees with me. This is the most disrespectful thing the Saudis could do to Mecca. The building overshadows the Kaaba. Could you show anymore disrespect towards Muslims and Islam?

I’m not against building hotels, but why build such an ugly and big building right next to the Kaaba. It is just like the example you gave with the Vatican. It looks like they made it so people wouldn’t visit the Kaaba, but the hotel instead. It ruins the skyline of Mecca. How wasteful could Saudis be. Seriously the money could’ve been better used. Did the Saudis get rid of poverty in their country that they felt the need to built such a big and hideous building? This is what happens when stupid people get rich.

I guess being a good Muslim according to the Saudis is showing your wealth of as much as possible, right.

    • ugly_building January 5, 2016 at 5:18 pm #

I forgot to add this. This building is only build to compete with the UAE. Since the only reason people visit Saudi Arabia is to visit Mecca. This is just a desperate attempt to show the Emiratis in a distasteful way that the Saudis are rich as well, while they totally forget the purpose of the Hadj.

  110. Ramz August 4, 2016 at 7:11 am #

I was further surprised to read that there was not more of an outcry re: the destruction of the Ottoman fortress.
