Bad Photography

Ugh..this girls photos are so terribly bad. They look like they were taken by a 5th grader with MY FIRST CAMERA from Hasbro. Why don’t people who are trying to represent themselves professionally (actors, musicians) actually spend money and hire a good photographer?? Nothing looks shittier than an amateur desperately trying to look professional, because the only impression they give is “I am trying desperately to look legit and I am currently, not in the least bit legit.’

This is an example of GOOD PHOTOGRAPHY: http://www.4-optic.com/

People…photography is NOT EASY. Just because your friend Ted has a nice camera and likes taking photos of pretty girls in bikinis all the time does not mean he is actually talented. It’s like cutting your own hair, it’s painfully obvious to everyone. So please, for the love of God, spend some money on a good photographer. That is all.

    actually . . .
Actually, looking at her myspace and whats she’s done, she seems pretty legit to me. For what she’s trying to do, seems like she’s decently accomplished. I dont know who took the photographs or what, but I think good photographs = legit is a bit of an overstatement by you.
I mean, I know she and us all should all bow down to your acting and web page design prowess, but when I look at what she’s done, she’s seems as season, if not more seasoned, than you in the hollywood “get famous quick” arena

Dude, Come on now..It dosen’t matter how good you are, how big your company is, if your web site, logo and other public images material looks like CRAP everyone will assume your company is crap.
Same goes with artists. EVERYONE judges a book by it’s cover. If she really is doing as well as she portrays herself to, then why not spend $500 on a REAL photographer instead of this obviously amateur crap?
Again, image is EVERYTHING, you can’t show up at a job interview in a wife beater and bermuda shorts, even if you have a PHD and worked for the White House and were a fighter pilot before that. IMAGES IS EVERYTHING. Period.

and again, let me add, I was talking only of what her photos say, not what her resume says. Her resume is great, but her photos do not reflect that.

        Re: actually . . .
well if you were referring to her photos only, that makes more sense, but I dont think you were with the way you were using the word “legit”
        secondly, its a myspace account.
        1) I personally dont understand this sudden myspace phenomenon
        2) Even say I did understand the sudden myspace surge (since i was part of the livejournal surge), why should she have professional photos up on myspace?
I seriously hope that when you or her go in for a part that you don’t throw your myspace up there for a reference.
If you haven’t seen her actual portfolio (assuming she has one) I would stop with the assumptions, because you know when you assume you make an ass out of u and me.
Sorry all of our myspaces can’t be as cool, designed, and professional as bboyneko’s
        just my 2 cents.

Again…i never said a damn thing about her myspace design..ONLY HER PHOTOS. Her actual site uses the same photos.
This entire rant has been about the professionalism of her photos..PERIOD. I assert her photos are of a poor quality, done by an amateur.
And someone of her stature, who is making her way in Hollywood, should hire a good photographer because image is everything.

Thats what you said and thats a pretty general statement. If you want to, after the fact, make it just about the photo, help yourself.
Same token, I think she can do her, and you can do you, and its all good. I think one thing thats good about blogs is that one can speak his mind. One thing thats bad is that people can criticize from a far and not really care. I mean maybe she had a photographer, maybe she didn’t. You should email and ask her if its that important to you to post about it. Just a thought.
But seems like she’s doing just fine. And photos are just photos. I guess, unless you’re stalking her, you haven’t seen her portfolio.

It was obviously said in the context of the photographs..the impression the photographs say. Amateur photographs say exactly that, that I am TRYING to LOOK legit. Image is everything, it matters next to nothing your resume, people judge you by your image. She should get a pro photographer.
