I’m sure by now many of you have heard the amazing tale of Emily the Cat, who walked out of her Wisconsin home one fine day, and 5 weeks later ended up in Pompey, Eastern France.

Apparently, her adventure began during a hunting expedition at the Kensington Drive distribution center of the paper company Appleton. The distribution center is near the McElhineys’ home. Emily traveled in the container by truck to Chicago, by boat to Belgium and from there to France.

Fortunately for her, she was wearing tags, which not only saved her life — the French usually euthanize unidentified four-legged cargo — but also allowed the laminating company to trace Emily to her veterinarian.

Emily will remain in French quarantine until the end of the month. Then, Continental will fly her to the U.S.

Meanwhile, Wilcox said, “We’re told that she’s doing very well in France and being fed lots of French food.”
