More Matrix research

16 May

Morpheus last line in the movie was “I dreamed a dream..but now that dream has gone from me”

here is a possible source of that line and it’s meaning that I came up with:

Daniel 2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him. ….3 And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream.

well king neb. had a dream of the future.. a prophesy..and it turned out to be true..maybe morpheus first part of the line ‘i dreamed a dream’ refers to neb’s line in the bible..basically saying I once believed in the prophesy..and as he sees his ship being destroyed..so he sees his belief..his faith destroyed..so the final part of the quote is probably his own creation ‘but now that dream is no more’ ..he realizes neo is right and the prophesy was bullshit..maybe morpheus even had a hand in naming his ship and knew the significance of the name of king neb.

Morpheus couldn’t have had a hand in naming the hovercraft, the plaque shown in the first film lists the date of construction as 2069.
But I think you’re right. His line does come from Nebuchadnazzar’s experiences with dreams.

    Daniel
Actually, If you keep reading in Daniel, King Neb says that the dream is gone from him.
And the king [Neb.] said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit is troubled to know the dream. Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in the Syrian language, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will show the interpretation. The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me:
    Daniel 2:3-5
